Please note, there is not a ‘save’ function on the application form. Please ensure you have all the following information and documents to hand before you begin. A preview of the questions can be found within the FAQs.
Before you begin you will need:
- A suitable location, and space for the package.
- Space needed to store items until the install date and a suitable delivery address.
(i) Please refer to the FAQs for full details and photos of the materials you will need to store. You must provide an address with sufficient space. Deliveries cannot be made to an unmanned location, and you will be responsible for receiving the large number of deliveries. Your delivery address should be manned during working hours Monday to Friday, have space to store all items for a three-month period until project is completed, including storage of larger item, and be very near to the garden site. It can be a private address if you wish.
- Full address and postcode of the proposed site.
- Names and contact details of two different people who will be involved in delivering the project.
- What3words location for the proposed site what3words /// The simplest way to talk about location.
- Two recent photographs, and if possible, a video, showing the proposed site.
- Site map indicating where the package items will be located.
- Proof of a minimum five-year lease for the proposed site, or proof of landowner. consent for the new garden for five years, as well as name and contact details of the landowner.
(i)You will need to upload evidence that clearly states it will remain in use as a community asset for at least five years.
- If the land is privately owned, it is not generally eligible - however, there are exceptions e.g. long-term lease to community organisation, or in process of being bought by eligible organisation.
(i)If your site is privately owned, you will need to provide written evidence from the landowner on the exact details of the arrangement with the applicant for the panel to consider
- Short outline of who will be involved and benefit from the package should the group be successful, including an estimate of numbers.
- It would be beneficial to your application if you can demonstrate how you will involve disadvantaged communities – please refer to FAQs.
- An estimation on how many people will be able to enjoy nature as a result of the project over the next five years – e.g. use visitor/site user numbers, local population statistics, school size etc.
- A commitment that you have at least five volunteers who will be able to work with Keep Wales Tidy to install the garden.
For Garden Packages you will also need
- Copy of your articles of association or constitution. For registered charities, we will only require your charity registration number.
- Please list all local organisations, schools etc as well as your own staff / volunteers who have committed to being involved in the garden installation and its future maintenance and long-term use. Please upload evidence of support from these groups (e.g., letters of support, videos or stories).
- Information on the current nature value of the site and evidence that the package will do no harm to existing biodiversity from a suitably qualified expert (e.g. ecological/habitat survey, statement from ecologist or local wildlife charity e.g. Wildlife Trust, Plantlife).

- Information on any nearby green spaces.
- Information on any previous funding received for nature activities.
- A commitment that you have at least 10 volunteers who will be able to work with Keep Wales Tidy to install the garden.
- A copy of your current insurance policy.
